Cisco Networking Academy
A few years ago I had the opportunity to attend the Regional Cisco Networking Academy located at Alfred University. It was a wonderful experience to return to the site of my undergraduate education and see the excellent changes that had taken place during my 20 year absence.
I refer to the Cisco Networking Academy as "Boot Camp for Networking". Class began promptly at 8:00 am and we studied until 5:00 pm. My instructor was Jason Tang and I must say that I gained an incredible amount of knowledge from this class.
The Cisco Networking Academy ran for 3 weeks, we had breaks over the weekend. Today I am very proud of my ablility to teach computer networking and to have prepared my students to work in this challenging industry.

Nortel NetKnowledge Academy
Two years ago I was once again honored (and very fortunate) to attend the Nortel NetKnowledge Academy in Baltimore, MD. This academy also ran from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. My classmates were from all over the world... We had Austrians, French Canadians, folks from Nova Scotia, Texas, the Carolinas and our contingent from Western New York.
The Nortel Academy focuses on 4 major areas. These areas are as follows:
1. Network Fundamentals
2. Routing
3. Switching and Network Management
4.Unified Networks and Emerging Technology
I am very fortunate to have one of the few Nortel Academies in the State of New York.
Our area school districts made a group purchase of Nortel Networking equipment and this school is one of the few institutions that provides Nortel training. Our students are very fortunate to have an academy that teaches these high-demand skills!
